SOFIA-GREAT Support

The project will provide ongoing support for the use of data from the Heterodyne Spectrometer GREAT over the period of 2024-2028. GREAT was active on SOFIA from 2011 to 2022. Core areas of focus include active user support, data archive maintenance, and the further development of the GREAT Pipeline. Two new coherent datasets will be created: atmospheric spectra and a reduction of all OI data. "GREAT Support" will serve as the central point of contact for scientific users, providing access to the GREAT Pipeline and assisting with the reduction of problematic data. A web portal will be established as the central hub, keeping track of both vacant and published datasets. Furthermore, improvements to the GREAT Pipeline are planned, including new quality features and enhanced calibration. The integration of the GREAT Pipeline into the "CCAT Data Center" at the University of Cologne is also envisioned to maximize synergies. The goal is to maximize the scientific utilization of GREAT data, promote unpublished data, and keep the pipeline ready for future applications. The project serves as a cornerstone for further, even long-term support, and aims to open up new research opportunities.
